Have you ever seen a linux desktop which features an excellent 3D cube effects directly on the desktop? Well, the developer of YODM 3D thought it looked cool and released a completely freeware utility which means Yet another desktop manager. Unfortunately, it is now known as DeskSpace and is no longer free. Not to worry, YODM 3D is still available free-of-charge.The program is basically a virtual desktop application with very cool transition effects. It allows you to run up to four different virtual desktops and when switching between them, you get this cool 3D cube effect.Multiple desktops are useful to many people and not restricted to those who are heavy multi-taskers.In order to switch between desktops using this tool, simply hold CTRL SHIFT and the right or left arrow keys. I like YOD'm but deskspace is cool, in that... they fix things YOD'm was lacking (6 sides making a complete cube, faster rotation, a background BEHIND the cube, etc) But yod'm is good for free ... Unless you need more then 4 desktops :-P
This is a cool product - thanks for posting the freeware version! I have a specialized need I'm wondering if anybody's encountered: I'd like to have certain apps "sticky" across all desktops. For instance, I'd like to have my mail tool available from everywhere, and (since I like command prompts) I'd also like the same command prompt available on all screens rather than opening 4 different ones. Thanks!

First of all, Yod'm 3D isn't free anymore. If you want to buy the program then go ahead. If you don't want to buy the program, i have uploaded a slightly older version as a zip file. The file is 9.2 MB so it will take a while for it to download. Here it is...INSTRUCTIONS1. download the file 2. extract to somewhere you can find it - (rightclick -> extract)

After setup it all worked fine, cool rotating 3d cube and all. But after reboot the plugins didn't work and worse, my desktops were all screwed up (gadgets gone, background changed, screensaver gone etc...). Reloading my profile only made matters worse, flashing desktops, 5sec screensavers and all other kinds of havoc. Rebooted and loaded the default profile, same story.Luckily I had only to delete the dir and reboot to fix all, portable ftw!I never had these problems on XP 32bit but now on win7 64bit it seems to be very buggy atm... So if you're on a 64bit sys, be cautious.Nevertheless very cool desktop manager, used it for years, but I'll have to pass for now.
Excellent Program.Great that its portable and even better that its free.You can't get a desktop manager better than this for free.Besides it only uses 12mb of process where Yod'm 3D uses around 30.This program is also stuffed packed with features.For example Yod'm 3D allows you to have seperate icons and wallpapers. Besides being extremely buggy if one wants to display 3 out of 20 desktop icons only on one desktop he must uncheck the 17 he does not want manually. With Dexpot all the desktops besides one are empty and icons created on one desktop stick to that desktop.Dexpot provides tons more ways of switching desktops.Even though i don't think i will stick with this program because I don't need to use a desktop manager I highly recommend this program to any one he does.Fantastic Work :) 2ff7e9595c
